My Counselling Approach
My approach is to never assume but to rather listen, learn and dissect what I am hearing to help you as the client to problem solve and discover what you have been experiencing. We will be a team working together to work through your needs, fears and worries to start building healthy pathways for you to begin to walk on. The types of therapy strategies:
- Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave. It’s most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression, but can be useful for other mental and physical health problems.
- Person-centered therapy seeks to facilitate a client’s self-actualizing tendency, an inbuilt proclivity toward growth and fulfillment via acceptance (unconditional positive regard), therapist congruence (genuineness), and empathic understanding. This will allow for the client to become open to experience, learn to trust themselves, develop an internal evaluation of themselves and have a willingness to continue growing.
The primary technique involved in person-centered therapy is reflection.
